About

The Person
Behind the Lens.

I am an artist with a restless curiosity and ink — or clay, or light — almost always on my hands. My practice spans photography, acrylic painting, sculpture, and pottery: disciplines that each demand a different kind of patience, and reward it in completely different ways.

My deepest source of inspiration is the ancient world. The carved reliefs of Egypt, the painted vessels of Greece, the monumental stonework of the Aztecs — civilizations that had no photography, no digital tools, and yet left behind imagery so precise and so alive that it still stops me cold. There is something about art made entirely by hand, with the stakes of permanence, that I keep returning to in my own work.

Photography fills most of my spare time. I am drawn to light that feels considered — the kind that only lasts a few minutes and disappears before you have finished thinking about it. I shoot a lot; I keep very little. Quality over quantity is a rule I apply ruthlessly to the edit, even when it hurts.

Alongside the physical arts I spend time in the digital space doing 3D character design — building figures from scratch, studying anatomy through the geometry of a mesh rather than the anatomy of a skeleton. It is where the ancient and the contemporary collide most naturally for me. In the near future I intend to take that further: I want to design my own video game, built on concept art created entirely by me — every environment, character, and prop drawn or modelled before a single line of code is written.

Education & Background

I hold a Diploma in Fine Arts, specialising in Photography and Printmaking. The printmaking studio is where I first understood that constraints — the plate, the press, the fixed edition — are not limitations but the very thing that gives a work its weight.

By day I work for a major PC company, which means I think about hardware, software, and systems as fluently as I think about composition and colour. I programme in my spare time too — this site is handbuilt in PHP, from scratch, because I wanted to understand every layer of it rather than hand the work off to a platform.

Why This Site

This is my attempt to have one honest place on the internet — a journal of key pieces, processes, and ideas that I want to preserve and share. No algorithm, no feed, no metrics. Just the work, and the thinking behind it. If something here resonates with you, I would genuinely love to hear about it.
